Almandine is an iron alumina garnet with deep red to red-purple tones.
Known and prized since ancient times, this variety of garnet is sought by today's jewelry artists as an affordable gemstone with a rich wine color. It's often used as earring or necklace dangles or bead stations, and shows well in precious metal wire-wrapping projects.
These smooth teardrop-shaped garnet beads are side-drilled across the top. Because they're shaped and polished by hand, they can vary slightly from the size ranges given.
Approximately 70 - 74 beads per 8" strand. Hole size approximately .40mm. Beads sold strung on .25mm (30 gauge) beading wire.
