30 gauge 14Kt yellow gold filled sheet is crafted into an open-backed 4.5x1.5mm high bezel (.8mm inside height) with a flat back and a narrow lip at the bottom to hold in the stone.

Before being set with gems or crystals, gold filled components can be soldered into place with specialized welding equipment, or glued using strong epoxy. Glue in gemstone or crystal with the lip at bottom. For more secure settings nest the stone against the bottom lip, then push the top bezel inward around the stone with a nylon-covered pair of jewelry pliers, a specialized bezel-setting tool, or the outside of a smooth stainless steel spoon.

These open bezel connectors are also perfect for miniature resin-cast, cold-enamel, or epoxy clay pieces containing clear or tinted resins, glitter, plastic sequins, glass pearls, and other tiny components.
