Show off your creative side with our 3D artist's palette and paintbrush charm cast in .925 sterling silver! Its realistic detail includes the traditional 'kidney bean' shape, the thumb-hole at the center, five dabs of paint, and two paintbushes depicted standing upright through the thumb-hole. Color dabs could be customized with the use of alcohol inks or cold enamel, and charm can be easily combined with other hobby and leisure charms.
A 'palette' is a flat, strong, nonporous surface used to hold groups of prepared pigments while an artist paints. Though ancient Egyptian scribes used a compact wooden box to hold the colored inks of their trade, the 'Kidney Bean' palette did not come into wide artistic use until the late Renaissance in Europe. Its curved shape maximizes the area available for separate paint dabs, and the thumb-hole helps stabilize the palette in the hand. Modern palettes can assume many shapes depending on the type or thickness of paint used, but the old palette form has become a shorthand symbol for fine arts, painting, teaching, color science, and creativity. Our palette charm comes with two hanging options: a cast-in 2.8mm (1mm inner diameter) jump ring holding a free-swinging 20ga 5mm soldered jump ring. Stamped 925.
