Kumihimo braiding is a fiber art form ideal for beading and jewelry enthusiasts. Historically, kumihimo was a Japanese form of finger braiding used in samurai armor, clothing ties, and kimono sash anchors. Modern disk and handle tools have made complex multi-strand round braids much easier. The resulting braids can use many combinations of beaded or non-beaded silky decorative cord, sturdy bead cord, or flexible bead cord to create intricate custom designs.
Our firm but flexible firm plastic foam disc features 32 notches to carry braiding cords, and an ergonomic shaped hollow plastic handle that helps hold the finished braided and/or beaded structure. Package comes with basic braiding instructions inside card.
