To use, Loosen and move the stop until the desired length on the ruler lines up with the  sawing slot, then lock it into position. Place tube into v-groove and slide it against the stop, then pivot the thumb clamp into place. Hold the jig handle in your non-dominant hand (or lock it into a vise) while pressing down on the thumb clamp. With your dominant hand, use a jeweler's saw to cut through the rod, making sure to hold the saw straight as you cut.
