30 gauge 14Kt gold filled sheet is crafted into an open-backed 1.5mm high bezel (1.30mm inside height) with a narrow lip at the bottom to hold in the stone. Two 2mm (1mm inner diameter) 24 gauge closed wire rings flank the central bezel.
Glue in gemstone or crystal with the lip at bottom. For more secure settings nest the stone against the bottom lip, then push the top bezel inward around the stone with a nylon-covered pair of jewelry pliers, a specialized bezel-setting tool, or the outside of a smooth stainless steel spoon.
These open bezel connectors are also perfect for miniature resin-cast, cold-enamel, or epoxy clay pieces containing clear or tinted resins, glitter, plastic sequins, glass pearls, and other tiny components.
