Convert unset 6mm faceted or cabochon gems or rhinestones into custom gemstone bezel drops, with these open bezel rings!
30 gauge 14Kt rose gold filled sheet is crafted into an open-backed 1.75mm high bezel (1.50mm inside height) with a narrow lip at the bottom to hold in the stone. A 2mm (1mm inner diameter) 24 gauge closed wire ring is soldered at top.
Glue in gemstone or crystal with the lip at bottom. For more secure settings nest the stone against the bottom lip, then push the top bezel inward around the stone with a nylon-covered pair of jewelry pliers, a specialized bezel-setting tool, or the outside of a smooth stainless steel spoon.
These open bezel drops are also perfect for miniature resin-cast, cold-enamel, or epoxy clay pieces containing clear or tinted resins, glitter, plastic sequins, glass pearls, and other tiny components.
