Also known as Bar clasps, Tube clasps are most often used in bracelets and necklaces, where multiple strands of beads or chain must lie flat in parallel arcs or rows. They offer the most professional jewelry 'look' when used together with wire guards, crimp beads, and crimp covers.
These clasps consist of two tubes of metal, one narrow enough to fit inside the other, with a channel cut almost all the way up one side of the larger tube. Closed or open jump rings are soldered to the uncut side of the large tube, and to the exposed side of the narrow tube. When locked together, the two tubes form one clasp, with parallel rings matched on either side. Caps on both ends prevent the tubes from accidentally unlocking, and can provide extra design elements with gemstone or ornamented surfaces.
If you're planning a multiple strand bracelet or necklace, give tube clasps a try!
